It's A Wrap: Women's Soccer-NCAA Division III
There were 124 Missouri and Kansas athletes competing in DIII Women's Soccer. They did more than compete, they excelled. Just look at their accomplishments and read what their coaches have to say.
What is Playing On Sports?
Playing On Sports covers the graduates of 1,000 high schools located in Kansas and Missouri who compete in 11 sports in any of the 1,100 NCAA Division I, II, or III colleges and universities.
Our best athletes go on to play the sport they love in college. It is impossible to keep track of them because our lives are busy. And then there is the Transfer Portal. Contact is lost. Until now. Playing on Sports is the only publication that delivers so much information on so many athletes as they compete at the next level. No longer are they “Out of sight, out of mind”.
Every athlete is identified by their name, sport, position, class, high school, college, and collegiate conference.

And Now for the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Athletes
We say there are “only” 124 DIII WSOC athletes because there are more who compete in DII and DI. The word “only” doesn’t have anything to do with what they do while on the pitch. Of the 124, 32 are highlighted below because of one or more season achievements
There were 23 who made their all-Conference team, over half of which were on the first team. One of those ladies was mentioned as a United Soccer Coaches All-American. We celebrate this season and look forward to next year because eight of the thirteen first team honorees will return. There were 34 times one of these athletes placed in the Top Five in a conference statistical category. It was 11 times that one of these athletes was named her conference Player of the Week.
Making the speed and physicality adjustment to college ball was not difficult for Izzy DeStefano (Visitation Academy/Lake Forest College). As a freshman, Izzy not only was on the conference’s first team, she was the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year. That can happen when you lead your conference in both goals and points per game. And she is a freshman.
Keeping with the theme of underclassmen, Brianna Fee (Lee’s Summit North/University of the South, Suwanee), as a junior, was named to the United Soccer Coach’s Third Team All-America Team. She was second in her conference in goals per game. She also made them when they counted a bit more, as she led her conference in Game Winning Goals.
Four time local talent was named a Player of the Year:
Izzy DeStefano - Freshman - Midfielder - Visitation Academy - Lake Forest College - Midwest Conference
Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year
Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year
Brianna Fee - Junior - Forward - Lee’s Summit North - University of the South, Suwanee - Southern Athletic Association
Southern Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Year
Grace Rodgers - Junior - Forward - Fort Zumwalt North - Webster University - St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year
Twelve of these athletes were designated Academic All-District by the Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC).
Those are the highlights of the highlights. Don’t miss any of what is below.

“Tessa has grown so much within her last two seasons. She’s not only worked hard to cement down a starting role, but is changing her style of play and incorporating new pieces into her game. “Izzy had a great first year back after being out nearly a year and a half rehabbing her knee from ACL surgery. She has a great feel for the offensive side of the game and sees runs and passes that many other players do not. She was a consistent threat on the wing for us all year. Like many great attacking players, if you lose her for a moment she will make you pay on the scoreboard. We are excited to have her here with us another two years and look forward to watching how she continues to progress.
