There are 96 area men competing at 32 DIII colleges. They come from 78 high schools. At this early stage of the season, Jaxon Althaus (Oak Grove/Westminster-MO.) is the leading scorer among players from this area. Jaxon is averaging 19.5 pts per game after four games. Making 5 free throws per game certainly helps you pile up the points. Joe Barry (St. Thomas More-Marian/Univ. of Chicago) is off to a fast start to his collegiate career. He is third on his University of Chicago team with 9.8 pts per game. He leads the Maroons in both assists and steals. Joe sports a snazzy assist to turnover ratio of 2.6. Jake Kampf (Barat Academy/Principia College) is hitting from long range. The senior is 22 for 41, or 53.66%, from beyond the arc in the first 6 games. We know that shooters shoot. That is demonstrated when you see the top four scorers all shooting above 82% from the line. In order of pts per game, they are Jaxon Althaus (Oak Grove/Westminster-MO) at 90.91%, Noah Butler (Free State/Aurora University) at 82.61%, Travis Lien (Kirkwood/Franciscan-Steubenville), at 83.3%, and Jake Kampf (Barat Academy/Principia College) at 95.24%. Making it diffiult for others is Karl Moore, Jr. (Jennings/Webster University) who has blocked 22 shots in their first 7 games.
