Unquestionably, this low population region is disproportionately represented at all levels of competitive volleyball nationwide. There are fewer than 20 roster spots per team which makes them difficult to attain. Here is an interesting factoid. There are ladies from the low population states of Kansas and Missouri who are on the rosters of five of the top eight DI teams. The high population states? New York = 0, Massachusetts = 1, Florida = 2, California = 4, and Illinois = 5. Nuff Said.
