NCAA Division III Volleyball is a Hit
We have looked at our athletes in Division I and II. They are stellar. Division III is no different. There are 109 of these athletes competing in the game they love. Take a look at who they are.
Playing On Sports is the only publication that tracks and reports on ALL of the Missouri and Kansas athletes who compete in NCAA Volleyball and ten other sports. If you like high school sports and appreciate the accomplishments of those who are Playing On into the NCAA, then get your free subscription right here. And please share with a friend!
Earlier we reviewed the accomplishments of 180 athletes who are competing in Division I. You can read that article here. We also reviewed the accomplishments of 262 athletes who are competing in Division II. You can read that article here. Now it is time to review the 109 athletes who are competing in Division III Volleyball.
There is a spreadsheet attached at the bottom of this article which contains 15 offensive and 13 defensive statistics for each of the 109 volleyball athletes. If you have enjoyed high school volleyball in the last four years, it will be a trip down memory lane. You will also smile when you see their performances. That is what I am told by the readers of Playing On Sports.
The Demographics
Yes, there are fewer of our athletes who compete in Division III then either Division I or II. That is in large part by the small number of area D III schools. There are only four D III schools in these two states. Three are in St. Louis while the other is East of Columbia. This area is gaining in exposure to DIII which Playing On Sports believes will continue to grow. There may only be four DIII schools in this area, but our Volleyball athletes call 49 DIII schools home that do not have a Kansas or Missouri address. Our athletes go out West to compete as a Banana Slug. Yes, and I promise you that it is considered an honor and a privilege to be a Slug. School and team loyalties are very good things. Many volleyball players go to the East to places like Emory, Amherst, MIT, Middlebury, NYU, and Rochester. They also stay a bit closer to home at the Univ. of Chicago, Macalester, Grinnell, and Wooster.
And for as many colleges where these ladies attend, they come from almost twice as many high schools. From Barstow and Bishop Carroll. From Francis Howell and Shawnee Mission East. And from Hiawatha, Miller, and Winona. All competing in NCAA Division III Volleyball.
