The local ladies are dishing it out and scoring big. They have the numbers and national rankings to prove it.
There are 181 women from Missouri and Kansas playing basketball in NCAA Division II. And 16 of them lead their team in scoring.
The leading scorer at this point is Tre-Zure Jobe (Wichita South/Emporia State) with 20.3 pts/game. That leads the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Just behind her is Brooke Littrell (Green City/Central Missouri) at 20.0 points per contest. The highest scoring freshman is Morgan Ramthun (Incarnate Word/Missouri-St. Louis) who is scoring 11.3 pts/game. She has done that, in part, by hitting 27 of 29 free throws. That is the 5th highest percentage in the nation. Accurate from the field is Reece Schaaf (El Dorado Springs/Drury) who is 34 of 56 from the floor. That is 60.71% for the freshman. Shooting well from long range is Carissa Beck (Circle/Newman Univ.) Her 25 of 49 from beyond the arc is 51.02%, which is 9th best nationally.
Brooke Littrell not only is second high in scoring, but she leads the area with 9.4 rebounds per game, which is tops in the MIAA. The ladies from local schools generate a lot of assists in college. Lacy Stokes (Mount Vernon/Missouri Southern) is 6th nationally with 6.3 assists per game. Showing great control of her game, Lacy also is 5th nationally with a 5.0 assist to turnover ratio. Terrion Moore (Leavenworth/Drury Univ.) leads the MIAA with 4.2 per game.
When it comes to defending, two local ladies stand out nationally. Defending the rim is Madison Stokes (Cassville/Missouri Southern) who is 8th nationally with 2.4 blocks per game. The local leader at defending the ball is Saniya Simmons (Olathe North/Lincoln Univ.) with 3.1 steals per game. That is the second highest in the nation among freshmen.
