Graduates of Kansas and Missouri high schools continue to run well at the NCAA level. There are 16 who lead their collegiate team in rushing yards per game. The top three rushers are all underclassmen and they represent all three divisions of the NCAA.
Kenneth Hamilton (Christian Brothers/Wash U-St. Louis) moved up to second on the list on a strong performance in Wash U’s 49-28 win over Augustana (Ill) on Saturday. That win keeps the Bears undefeated thus far in this season. Kenneth rushed 17 times for 144 yards and 3 touchdowns. That gets him to 11 TD’s for the season in only 70 carries. He now is averaging 97.2 yards per game.
Nathan Blades (Joplin/Missouri Southern) may have dropped to third on the list but he still turned in his fourth 100 yard game of the year. He carried the ball 16 times for 105 yards in their close loss to Central Missouri. His 658 season yards gives him an average per game of 94.0.
Isaiah Davis (Joplin/South Dakota State) and Amar Johnson (Chaminade/South Dakota State) combined to rush for 203 yards in the Jackrabbit’s win over rival North Dakota State. Davis ran for 114 yards and Johnson ran for 89 as each scored a touchdown. Isaiah’s third consecutive game over 100 yards keeps him atop the two state list of rushers. Amar’s yardage is his season high and helped him go over 100 all purpose yards.
