Local Women Competing in NCAA DII Basketball
There are 181 women from Missouri and Kansas High schools competing in DII basketball. Fourteen lead their team in scoring. And they can rebound. And pass. And defend. Yeah, they can do it all.
The season is off to a fast start and the local ladies were ready. They are shooting, rebounding, and playing an overall game. And we have some who are in the top ten in the country. Fifteen of these ladies lead their team in scoring.
As a group, they shoot very well. The average field goal shooting for the entire group is 41%, and 32% from beyond the arc. They are hitting 73% from the line.
Redshirt Sophomore Brooke Littrell (Green City/Central Missouri) leads all scorers with 18.2 pts/game. Brooke proves it doesn’t matter where you are from. Green City High School sports 63 students. Macie Conway (Nixa/Rockhurst Univ.) lead all freshmen with 11.7 pts/game. Tessa Hanson (Norton Community/Colorado Christian) has taken aim with 11 for 13 shooting from the field. That is a nifty 85.62%. A few more attempts and she will qualify to be ranked nationally. Shooting from beyond the arc is Alana Findley (Fair Grove/Drury Univ), dropping in 7 of 10 so far this year. Perfect so far this year from the line is Allison McFarren (Bishop Carroll/Rockhurst Univ.), making all 13 of her free throws.
Getting it done on the boards is Alex Kerr (St. Josepsh’s Academy/Missouri S & T) with 9.1 rebounds per game. Emree Zars (Mill Valley/William Jewell) leads all freshmen with 7.8 rebounds per game.
Dishing out the assists is Lacey Stokes (Mt Vernon/Missouri Southern) with 6.2 per game. That is the 9th highest in DII nationwide. Lacey also leads the two state area with 2.8 steals per game. Tor’e Alford (Derby/Glenville State) knows what, and what not to do with the ball. Her 8.0 assists to turnover ration is No. 1 in the country. Madison Stokes (Cassville/Missouri Southern) proves her prowess in the paint with 2.1 blocks per game, the 10th most in the nation.
