It's Time to Review NCAA DI Baseball Pitching
There are 118 Missouri and Kansas grads pitching in DI. Almost all of them have gotten to the mound. They are in the Big 12, Big Ten, Pac 12, SEC, the Patriot League, and more. Take a look!
The 118 DI pitchers from Missouri and Kansas come from 88 high schools and found new homes at 61 colleges all across the country. Yes, they are at area colleges such as KU, K-State, MU, Lindenwood, and SEMO. But they are also out West at Grand Canyon University and Gonzaga. They are down South at Texas A & M and Stephen F. Austin. They found dugouts up and down the Eastern seaboard from Central Florida to North Carolina-Charlotte to St. Joseph’s. They have changed nicknames to the Fighting Irish and the Nittany Lions. And one is in the Army.

Off to a great start to his season and his collegiate career is freshman Carson Liggett (Blue Valley/Univ. of Louisville). He has the lowest ERA of those with meaningful innings pitched. He has the most wins at 7 through Saturday. (Carson took the mound on Sunday, pitching 6 and a third innings, striking out seven and giving up only one earned run. He lowered his ERA, but still was tagged with his first collegiate loss. That is baseball). He has wins over Michigan, Notre Dame, and Boston College. Carson is flying high as a first year Cardinal.
Davin Pollard (Olathe North/Austin Peay) has the most saves with 5. He has also appeared in more games than anyone else with 21. Noah Niznik (Vianney/Southeast Missouri State) has the most strikeouts, getting the K 67 times. The sophomore has almost 5 strike outs for each walk he has given up. Will Walsh (Rockhurst/Univ. of Nebraska) has the best strike out to walk ratio at 6.00. Following close behind is freshman Charlie Weber (Chaminade/Wofford College) at 5.80 and Zach Thornton (Free State/Grand Canyon Univ.) with 5.73 strike outs for each walk.
A freshman, Garrett Ferguson(Summit Christian Acad./Missouri State Univ.) has only allowed his opponents a .159 batting average in his 63 at bats. And the most strike outs without allowing a walk? That would be Spencer Nelson (Olathe East/Central Arkansas) who has 9 strike outs in 8 and two thirds innings of work, with no walks allowed.
