It's a Wrap. NCAA Division III WBB Post Season Honors and Numbers
The 85 ladies from Missouri and Kansas who competed in NCAA DIII won just about every honor there is to win. They led their teams. They dominated their conferences. Come see who and where.
I will also publish this information for the other divisions and for both men and women. So you don’t miss that and more forthcoming content, please get your free subscription, and send to friends. They will appreciate it.
These ladies fanned all over the country to play basketball. Some went to lesser populated areas such as Kenyon College or Greenville, Illinois. Some went to the larger cities such as Dallas, Chicago, Denver, and New York City. They have come from Kansas City, St. Louis, and Blackwell, Missouri. Academic All-District? Yeah, several of those. Academic All-American? Two of those, too. There are multiple conference Players of the Year. and multiple conference Newcomers of the Year. So, don’t expect this to taper off next year.
Basketball is a game of statistics. These ladies are all over the stat sheets. They led their conferences in scoring, assists, blocked shots, rebounding, steals, minutes played and in shooting, both from the field and from the line. There are multiple Sportsmanship awardees. Yes, they are good people. But I didn’t say anything about Miss Congeniality. Don’t get between them and the ball. These ladies come to play every day.
It is difficult to single individuals out of this group, but there are some who make front billing even in this company. Julie Baudendistel (Lindbergh/Webster Univ.) hits the books and her treys.
Just a junior, Natalie Bruns (Kirkwood/New York University) has taken the Big Apple by storm. She is lights out academically while she scores, rebounds, and blocks shots. That is what you get from the Player of the Year in what may be the most competitive DIII conference. You need to subscribe so that you can read more about her soon.
Shelby Kurtz (Camdenton/Westminster MO) plays great defense and and is her conference’s No. 1 free thrower. Just a sophomore Peyton Starks (John Burroughs/Macalester College) is a first team all-conference honoree, in part, by leading the conference in scoring.
Be sure to note the freshmen who hit the court running. Among them is Madison Nelson (Kingston/Fontbonne Univ.) who was second team all-conference and the conference’s newcomer of the year.
For the academic awards, I use those awarded by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). The All-Americans were chosen by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The conference and national statistics are provided by the respective conferences and the NCAA. The comprehensive spreadsheet covering every lady that is attached at the end of this article has data provided by each school.
