It's a Wrap. NCAA Division II MBB Post Season Honors and Numbers
There were 157 men from Missouri and Kansas who played NCAA DII basketball. And they played it very well. Almost a third of them earned postseason honors and/or placed high statistically.
Fanning out all across America were 157 local men basketball players competing in NCAA DII. They came from 117 high schools of all sizes from all over Missouri and Kansas. Small schools in Missouri such as South Iron, Dora, and Green City along with small Kansas schools such as Inman, Valley Valls, and South Gray. And they came from large Missouri schools like Blue Springs and Marquette and also large Kansas Schools like Derby and Olathe North. They left home to compete at 43 colleges. From Hawaii-Hilo to the West to Bentley University to the East. And from Minnesota-Mankato to the North to Mississippi College in the South.
Forty-seven received postseason honors and/or placed highly statistically. Those 47 are detailed individually below before a spreadsheet with the individual data of all 157 players.
Those honors were many. There were 11 Academic All-District honorees, including one Academic All-American. Twenty-two earned All-Conference recognition including a Player of the Year, multiple Defensive Players of the Year, and an All-American. The future is bright as three are on their conference’s All-Freshman Team, including a Freshman Player of the Year.
There were nine players who led their conference in a key statistic. And one had the third highest free throw shooting percentage in county. And that guy is just a freshman. Another freshman led his conference in two statistical categories. This year’s freshmen hit the ground running and performed very well.
For the academic awards, I use those awarded by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). The All-Americans were chosen by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The conference and national statistics were provided by the respective conferences and the NCAA. The comprehensive spreadsheet covering all 157 players that is attached at the end of this article contains data provided by each school.
