I am Proud to Announce a New Affiliation for Playing On Sports
Nothing will change with the content that I currently provide about Missouri and Kansas athletes. What's new? Please meet my friends, Missouri Sports Network and Scoreboard Guy.
Playing On Sports is now collaborating with two mainstay Missouri sports news institutions. You will find Missouri Sports Network here, and Scoreboard Guy here. You will find Missouri Sports Network’s YouTube channel here.
Please take a look at our introductory joint production of “Where Are They Now Wednesdays” here.
The Missouri Sports Network was founded by long-time Missouri high school and collegiate basketball coach Darin Archer. Coach Archer’s idea of promoting the scores, stories and accomplishments of the Show-Me state’s athletes, coaches, schools, fans and communities at all levels began to take shape and materialize in April of 2021. The first person Coach Archer reached out to was his friend and long-time southwest Missouri on-air sports personality, Guy Newcomb. Affectionately known throughout the state as the “Scoreboard Guy”, Newcomb founded and created some of the most popular sports shows in the region with his High School Scoreboard Show and the High School Highlight Show on ESPN radio affiliate Jock 98.7 in Springfield, MO. Newcomb has become a mainstay in southwest Missouri and the state for brining the latest news, updates, and scores throughout the Show-Me state. Both Archer and Newcomb are former collegiate athletes at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO, and have been involved in high school and collegiate athletics in Missouri for a combined 60+ years. Archer and Newcomb collaborated to bring a host of talented individuals to realize the dream of bringing all things sports, at all levels, to the Show-Me state.
Johnny McNeil is a St. Louis, MO native, Missouri State University graduate, and former NFL Certified Agent. McNeil has a Master’s degree in Sports Management, and along with his duties at the Missouri Sports Network, he currently serves as Vice-President of Community Relations at Community Partnership of the Ozarks. “JMac” brings extensive experience in all facets of the Missouri sports scene to the Missouri Sports Network.
