Who, What, When, Where, and Why
Teachers and professors tend to require complete answers for good reasons. They want all the facts if you want the grade. Here is the answer to what is Playing On Sports.
Who - Athletes who originated from Missouri and Kansas. Reporting on every Missouri and Kansas high school graduate who is competing in any of eleven sports anywhere in the NCAA.
What - The information presented range from complete year-to-date and complete season statistics, with the leaders placed on state leader boards. And listings of honors earned and awards won throughout the season. Also included are listings of high statistical finishes both in the athlete’s collegiate conference and nationally.
When - Newsletters and podcasts are delivered throughout the sports season. And into the postseason with “It’s a Wrap” articles that summarize the entire season. Seasons overlap with the next season starting before the last one has concluded.
Where - You will find the Playing On Sports Newsletter in your inbox. Provided that you have subscribed, of course. I don’t spam. If you tell me you want it, you will get it. It’s free. and there is no obligation to continue. You will also find this information adapted into a podcast format. That is a joint production with Missouri Sports Network. It is called “Where are They Now Wednesday” and it is distributed every Wednesday at 7:00 am. You will be notified of its distribution if you follow on X at playing_sports. You can also find all of them on the Missouri Sports Network website and Youtube Channel.
Why - Why is there Playing On Sports? That is a good question. Let’s look back in history. There was a time when the print media was delivered to your door step. The sports page was robust with information and photos. There was at least one page full of numbers, lists, and statistics. Many times there was a short summary of what the local athletes were doing in college. That isn’t true today, even with the explosion of data that is available to you. What if someone put that information in your inbox? And not just that information, but much more. Statistics and listings of EVERY local athlete. Leader boards in lots of statistics. Listings of honors received and awards won. And photos. Lots of photos. The best high school athletes have typically been forgotten once they leave for college. No more. THAT is the “why” of Playing On Sports.
There is a weekly podcast that is derived from Playing On Sports. It is co-produced by Missouri Sports Network. It is named “Where are They Now Wednesday”. Follow me on X and you won’t miss it. You will find it here.
