Big Time Numbers Produced by Local Ladies in NCAA DII WBB
They are scoring. And rebounding. And scoring. And dishing. And Scoring. And stealing. And Scoring. Take a look at their numbers, and how they stack up regionally and nationally.
I track and report on the NCAA athletic performances of those who have graduated from Missouri and Kansas high schools. “Out of sight, out of mind” is the human attribute that makes it difficult to remember where our area grads have gone. And what they are doing. With the transfer portal, many don’t stay put. By getting your free subscription to my newsletter you will have access to the most extensive data source for those athletes. So, please subscribe! And send this on to a friend.
The highest scorer from this area in DII WBB continues to be Tre-Zure Jobe (Wichita South/Emporia State). She is scoring 21.3 points per game. That also leads the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association. In all, there are 16 local ladies who lead their team in scoring. To name a few, Brooke Littrell (Green City/Central Missouri), Britney Ho (Bishop Carroll/Newman University), and Antoinette Mussorici (St. Pius-KC/Maryville Univ.). The highest scoring freshman continues to be Morgan Ramthun (Incarnate Word Academy/Missouri-St. Louis) who is scoring 11.6 points per game to go with her 6.8 rebounds, which is also the most rebounds by a freshman.
How do these ladies score so much? That answer is both difficult and easy at the same time. Scoring isn’t easy. We know that because if it was easy then everyone would be doing it. But, the easy answer is that these ladies simply make shots. The top 17 scorers on the attached list make 80% of their free throws. They are also deadly from beyond the arc. Brionna Budgetts (Lincoln Prep/Missouri Western) and Tristan Gregg (Altamont/Pittsburg State) have shot more treys than all of the others under review. It is easy to see why their coaches give them the green light. Brionna has hit 46.6% of her 148 trey attempts while Tristan has connected on her 166 attempts 42.8% of the time. Brionna’s 3 pt shooting percentage is 5th in the nation while Tristan’s is 8th nationally.
Alex Kerr (St. Joseph’s Academy/Missouri S & T) is the leading rebounder with 9.9 per game, which makes that so very close to averaging a double/double when you add in her team leading 15.4 points per game. Alex may be a graduate student, but three of the top five rebounders are sophomores. They are Brooke Littrell (Green City/Central Missouri), Karenna Gerber (Halstead/Pittsburg State), and Katie Wagner (Maize South/Fort Hays State).
Getting it done with assists is Lacy Stokes (Mount Vernon/Missouri Southern State) who is dishing it out 5.6 times per game, which is 10th in the country. Her assist to turnover ration of 3.9 is the 5th best nationally.
Tre-Zure Jobe, noted above as the highest scorer also has the most steals per game with 3.0. Madison Stokes (Cassville/Missouri Southern State) leads all of these ladies with 2.2 blocked shots per contest.
