Area Women in NCAA DIII Basketball-The Names and Numbers
There are 83 area ladies playing NCAA Division III Basketball. Eight of them lead their team in scoring. See who they are and what else they all are doing
These ladies have found a lot of places to play basketball, from the Missouri countryside to New York City. It doesn’t matter where they go. Their impact is felt. And many times very quickly. The top five DIII scorers from this area are freshmen or sophomores. All lead their team in scoring except one. And she would be leading her team if it were not for another freshman teammate from this area.
Who are these ladies? Sophomore Annette Ramirez (Sarcoxie/Westminster-MO) leads the way with 19.8 pts/game. Another sophomore, Peyton Starks (John Burroughs/Macalester), is scoring at a 17.3 pts/game clip. The highest scoring freshman is Ariana Williams (Gateway Legacy Christian Academy/Principia College) with 15.6 pts per game. A third sophomore is Ja’mise Bailey (Webster Groves/Fontbonne University) scoring 15.4 pts/game. The freshman to whom I alluded above who would be leading her team if not for a freshman teammate from this area is Taylor Brown (Lift for Life Academy/Principia College) who is dropping in 15.0 pts/game.
Leading in rebounds is Claudia Cooke (Parkway Central/Kenyon College) with 10.6 boards per game. When combined with her 11.0 points per game the junior is the only lady averaging a double/double.
Mentioned above regarding her 15.0 pts/game, Taylor Brown (Lift for Life Academy/Principia College) leads the area ladies with 3.50 assists per game. A small school lady (her high school has 47 students), Kristin Herndon (North Nodaway/Knox College) leads with 3.70 blocks per game.
Here are all of the Missouri and Kansas ladies who are competing in DIII, ranked by points per game.
