Area Men in NCAA DI Basketball-The Names, the Schools, and the Numbers
These guys lead their teams and they lead the nation. One is generating more than 10 assists per game. That is 2 whole assists more than the guy who is second in the country. Come take a look.
There are 8 local players who lead their college team in scoring. Places like Creighton and Stanford. Ryan Kalkbrenner (Trinity Catholic (MO)/Creighton) leads the Bluejays with 16.2 points/game. One way he does that is to simply not miss. Ryan is shooting 77.53% from the field, which is tops in the nation. Spencer Jones (Bishop Miege/Stanford) leads the Crimson in scoring with 10.8 points/game.
Courtney Ramey (Webster Groves/Arizona) has hit on 27 of 60 shots from beyond the arc. That is 45.00%. And nearly perfect from the line is Zeke Mayo (Lawrence/South Dakota State) who has hit 25 of 26 free throw attempts. That 96.15% would be fourth in the country if had just a couple more attempts.
And when a player scores, it can be because of a pass from a teammate. That is how great basketball works. Who wouldn’t want to be the teammate of Yuri Collins (St. Mary-MO/St. Louis University? Yuri leads the nation with 10.31 assists/game. That is 2 more per game than anyone else. Oh, and he also leads his team in scoring.
There are some great seasons underway. Take a look at them here. The list is by points/game.
