After Two Rounds of the NCAA DI Volleyball Tournament, Seven Ladies are Left Standing
There are sixteen teams left. Six of them with local connections. Of the remaining, three are No. 1 seeds, twp are No. 2's and one is a No. 3. Real possibilites of a National Champion in our midst!
Sixty-four NCAA Division I schools entered the post season tournament this weekend. Twenty-four of those schools got there with the help of talent from our local high schools. If you missed the bios for every one of the 45 local participants, you will find them here. We are now two rounds into the tournament. You can follow each match, point by point, on the dates noted below at this link.
There are seven ladies, on six teams, from this area who are still alive. All focusing on a national championship. That prospect actually looks good as three of those seven are on teams seeded No. 1 in their regional. The seven still competing are:

The unseeded Panthers upset No. 7 seeded Floriday State, 3-0, in the first round. They then lost to No. 2 seeded Minnesota in the second round, 3 to 0. Season ended.

Elise McGhie - Setter - Junior - St. Teresa’s Academy
The No. 2 seeded Gophers beat unseeded Southeastern Louisiana in the first round, 3 to 0. They beat unseeded Northern Iowa 3 to 0 in the second round. The Gophers will play No. 3 seeded Ohio State on December 8 at 11:00.

Gabby Blossom - Setter - Graduate Student - St. Joseph’s Academy
The No. 2 seeded Toreros defeated unseeded Northern Colorado in the first round, 3 to 1. They then beat No. 7 seeded Washington State, 3 to 1. The Toreros will play No. 3 seeded Kentucky on December 8 at 7:00.
